Is an employee injured at a company sponsored event eligible for Workers’ Compensation?

Workers Compensation during company eventsWhen are employees covered by Workers’ Compensation?

Workers’ Compensation Update: Increase in Total Temporary Disability benefits means fewer workers have incentive to return to work

Workers' Compensation Total Temporary Disability benefits increaseThe California Division of Workers’ Compensation announced last Friday (10/21/2011) that maximum Total Temporary Disability (TTD) benefits will increase to $1010.50 per week (tax free) in 2012. TTD benefits are paid to workers who are temporarily unable to work at all due to a workplace injury. Because the benefits are paid tax free, the increase means that anyone earning up to $78,898 per year will be getting roughly the same amount of take home pay while they are out on Workers’ Compensation TTD.  Now there is less incentive for most injured workers to get back to work because they can make the same amount while sitting at home.
